RSPCA York are in urgent need of blankets, particularly thick ones, after complications following the floods mean their supplies are almost out.
Due to the river rising, their washing machine has broken and they’re quickly running out of clean blankets for the animals.
Heather Bulmer published the appeal to Facebook this morning, which has had over 350 shares and numerous comments offering help.
The post read: “We are extremely desperate for blankets as our storage boxes are nearly empty due to the washing machine unable to work due to the river rising. If anyone can help we would be very grateful.”
After generous donations from locals throughout the day, RSPCA staff member Catherine told YorkMix that they’re now particularly in need of thicker blankets.
Another RSPCA spokesperson revealed that they cannot accept anything with holes in, such as crochet or cellular blankets as animals can get their paws stuck, but other blankets is appreciated.
They also do not accept duvets, pillows, or cushions.
The RSPCA is located on Landing Lane, YO23 4RH, and will accept drop-offs at any time, as they have storage tubs for out-of-hours donations.
