Three life buoys which were missing from the river bank in Tadcaster have now been replaced.
Additionally, Tadcaster Community Action Group has told YorkMix that they have had to order a new Throw Rope because it was removed from its cassette.
A teenage boy was found standing next to the river bank with a Buoy around him and someone else holding the rope.
The River was fast flowing at approx 2.3m. The Police were informed and the teenager was spoken to.
Tadcaster Community Action Group said: “We are fortunate to have a total of Five buoy’s in Tadcaster all funded by the action group.
“This is a voluntary role, and as much as we all love the town, replacing equipment unnecessarily is a waste of resources.”
They ask that parents and carers spread the message.
