He’s just had a global smash with his latest comedy After Life, and he’s now writing a second series.
But Ricky Gervais would not let this daunting workload stop him from visiting what is quite probably his favourite city.
So he will hit York Barbican next month with a brand new stand-up show, SuperNature.
His York gig on May 13 is currently only the second of what we’re told will be a world tour, after launching in Oxford.

He describes the show on Facebook as exploring “the absurdity of superstition, magic and all unsubstantiated beliefs, and celebrates the conclusion that Nature is already Super enough”.
Ricky was last in York for two sell-out shows in the spring of 2017, as part of his Humanity tour.
After becoming a household name thanks to BBC comedy The Office, first screened in 2001, he created Extras and Life’s Too Short with his co-writer Stephen Merchant.
Comedy drama Derek was followed by After Life. The first series came to Netflix this year, and starred Gervais as a local journalist questioning the point of life after his wife died.
SuperNature will also be filmed and screened on Netflix.
The former Golden Globes host said he secured the highest fee ever paid for a UK stand-up special for Humanity on Netflix – although the figure was never disclosed. The new deal is said to be worth the same.
