Theatre company York Stage are bringing another musical premiere to York – with the iconic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
It was announced exclusively this morning (Friday) on YorkMix Radio.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be coming to the Grand Opera House on Thursday 6 April to Saturday 15 April 2023.
Presenters Laura Castle and David Green spoke to York Stage director Nik Briggs about the announcement on the Breakfast Show.
“We perform at the Grand Opera House York every September and every Easter, and next Easter holidays for two whole weeks we’ve got another York premiere,” Nik told them.
“We are bringing the magical musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to York for the first time ever.
“We will be flying Chitty across the Grand Opera House York.
“It’s a really gorgeous Easter treat for families and something to really look forward to.”
Tickets went on sale at 10am today (Friday) on the Grand Opera House website.

Get ready for an adventure for all ages featuring the well known characters of Caractacus Potts, Truly Scrumptious, Baron Bombastic and of course the evil Childcatcher.
The musical features a host of well-known songs such as Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Me Ol’ Bamboo, and the titular song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Another York premiere from York Stage, Kinky Boots, is opening at the Grand Opera House tonight. It will play until Saturday 24 September.
