The latest numbers have been crunched, revealing which are York’s priciest and cheapest streets to invest in property.
According to the data, the gap between the street with the most expensive average price and the least expensive is more than £1.7 million.
And no fewer than seven of the top ten most expensive streets now have averages of more than £1 million per property.
As always there are some caveats with simple averages.
For a start, the cheapest figures come from not full streets, but blocks of flats on specific streets.
And some of the averages come from the sale of just three properties.
All the figures have been compiled by house sales company Property Solvers. Its team tracked average sold price data from HM Land Registry since 2020 to see where the highest and lowest-priced homes are located across the York postcodes.
On Shipton Road (YO30), four properties sold for an average of £1,796,250. At The Purey Cust (YO1), five properties sold for an average of £1,639,000 – and there’s a home now on the market here for £5.95m.
Also, Rawcliffe Lane (YO30) saw 3 properties sell for an average of £1,383,333.

Some of the cheapest streets include Langley House (YO31) (where 7 properties sold for an average of £79,050), Kirkstall House (YO10) (where 3 properties sold for an average of £88,933) and Homeyork House (YO10) (where 22 properties sold for an average of £99,543).

Co-founder of Property Solvers Ruban Selvanayagam said: “To keep the data less skewed, we only ranked the streets that had over three sales.
“It’s therefore worth noting that, in recent years, a property on Shipton Road sold for £2,750,000 and, at the other end of the market, there were properties that sold for £66,000 and under on Cornlands Road and Langley House.”
Across Britain, the average price tag on a home coming to market in June was £378,240, Rightmove said. That’s a fall of £1,277 or 0.3% month-on-month.
Also according to Rightmove, house prices in York have an overall average of £320,016 over the last year.
That’s seven per cent down on the 2022 peak of £331,278.
