Revealed: The line-up for YorkMix Radio – the new station for York and North Yorkshire

The waiting is almost over. The new radio station for York and North Yorkshire goes live at 6.30am on Monday (4 January).

And ahead of the groundbreaking launch of YorkMix Radio, the presenting line-up has been announced!

The biggest stars from former listeners’ favourite Minster FM form the core team of the new station. And here’s what you can listen to every weekday from Monday.

6.30am: Ben and Laura

For the first time since saying goodbye on air 129 days earlier, Ben Fry and Laura Castle are reunited to present the Breakfast Show.

And join them before 8am for a chance to win £500!

9am: Victoria Charles

Victoria brings back her hugely popular mid-morning show – including The Quizzical at 11.30am, the addictive daily contest.

1pm: Tim Lichfield

Tune in to Tim to find out how you can take control of the show!

As well as a radio presenter with years of experience, Tim is also a professional magician and qualified hypnotherapist.

4pm: David Green

Let David guide you home, with regular travel updates – and the 4.30pm connection game.

7pm: Paul Spence

As well as being a seasoned radio presenter, Paul’s a familiar face from his work DJing in York’s bars and clubs. He will be playing upbeat music to round off the day.

And at 10pm it’s The Wind Down Mix – music to relax before bed.

What will the first song be?

YorkMix Radio’s David Green said: “We can’t wait to bring YorkMix Radio to the airwaves.

“We’ve already had an amazing reaction to XmasMix and our test transmissions so we know lots of people are as excited as us.  

“Ben and Laura have got used to lie ins but they’ve got their alarm clocks ready for the 6.30am launch and they’ve got £500 to give away to one lucky listener.

“Of course local news is hugely important on a local radio station and the team we look forward to in-depth chats with the YorkMix news team at 12:30 and 4.30pm each day, along with the return of the dulcet tones of David Dunning!”

David said there are lots of old favourites to enjoy throughout the day, including Victora’s general knowledge quiz and that scary Killer Question.

“And despite the fact that we’re not travelling as much as normal at the moment we’ll be the number one place to find out what’s happening on the roads…

“The only real question is, what will the first song be?”
