Another restaurant has signed up to the York Stadium complex.
Zizzi will open in a unit next to the cinema entrance at the Monks Cross development.
If all goes to plan the Italian chain will be given access to the 3,221 sq ft unit in September. The fit-out would take several weeks, with a planned opening around November.
The Azzurri Group which owns Zizzi already has strong connections to York.
It runs the Ask Italian restaurant inside the Assembly Rooms on Blake Street as well as a city centre Zizzi on Lendal.
Appeal of the site
There are five restaurant units in the complex, with three remaining to be let.
Wrenbridge Sport, the development partner in the York Stadium project, is in talks with interested parties about those three.
“The fact that we have done a deal with a mainstream operator confirms the appeal of the site,” Wrenbridge director Ewen McLeod told YorkMix.
Zizzi’s planned opening hours at the stadium are 9am-12.30am Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 10.30pm on Sundays.
Hollywood Bowl to move in
The Hollywood Bowl team hope to move into the complex in May to begin fitting out their 46,000 sq ft space.
It will take them about six months to prepare the venue, which also features an American diner.
That would see it open around November which is when the 13 screen IMAX cinema is due to open too.
