As the waters recede and York begins another clear-up, a new video has revealed the scale of the latest flooding.
The drone film shows the extent of the waters as they reached their peak on Friday.
It was shot by Alex Bankhead. “I was shocked by the distance of the spread of the water,” he said.
” I feel terrible for the pubs and bars and shops that are being affected.”
His film shows Rowntree Park almost completely submerged, and Millennium Bridge disappearing into the water.
Today some flood warnings are still in place, but the river levels continue to drop.
Alex is a graphic design student at York St John University and lives in the city.
He told YorkMix: “My first thought while documenting this flood was, how can my generation influence and assist our local community to build/design a safer environment, being fully equipped whenever the rain comes again?”
He would like to offer his drone videography and photography services, to people who need them. You can get in touch via [email protected].
Alex is a registered drone operator with the Civil Aviation Authority and complies with their regulations.
