LNER, Hull Trains and Grand Central services are all subject to long delays and cancellations after after power cables were damaged in the Finsbury Park area, just outside London King’s Cross.
There are no departures north from London on the East Coast Main Line (as of 21:00) and trains from Yorkshire to the capital have been brought to a halt at Peterborough.
Two lines have now reopened to diesel powered trains which may allow a few services to get through. Passengers have been complaining about a lack of information and any plans to get people to and from London tonight.
LNER has issued “don’t travel today” advice, some reports suggest hundreds of people are now stuck at Peterborough.

Some trains were trapped between stations, all customers have been safely evacuated off these trains. Other trains in the area are being held in platforms at stations.
Network Rail engineers and train repair staff are onsite in a tunnel near Finsbury Park. They’ve confirmed that the wires are damaged and will require repairs.
