Raider threatens York shop staff with broken bottle and stashes stolen goods into Peppa Pig bag
Police are hunting a robber who threatened staff at a York shop and made off with stolen items in a distinctive Peppa Pig bag.
The raid happened at about 9.45pm on Tuesday (14 March) at the House of Trembling Madness on Stonegate.
A man entered the shop who had a distinct Yorkshire accent and blue eyes. He covered the rest of his face.
He threatened staff with a broken bottle while demanding cash and cigarettes – then stole cigarettes including packets of the rare ‘Pueblo Classic’ brand, putting them in the Peppa Pig bag for life. No cash was taken.
The suspect both arrived and fled on a pedal cycle.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers are urging members of the public to contact them with any information that could assist the investigation.
“They particularly want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have unexpectedly been offered cigarettes for sale since the robbery.”
