News

Hundreds of fish are reported to be struggling in the River Foss.

The Environment Agency has brought in pumps to aerate the water because oxygen levels are low.

It has been warmer recently and although we have had heavy rain it’s not been enough to allow the flow and turbulence to oxygenate the watercourse naturally.

It’s also ideal conditions for the growth of algae, which consumes oxygen when it dies and decomposes.
