Only two more sleeps…
The much-anticipated arrival of Primark in York is almost here, and details of the opening day have been released.
We revealed a month ago that the Monks Cross’s megastore was opening on Saturday (May 7) at 10am.
And the big moment will be marked with razzmatazz and fun for York’s fashion fanatics.
At around 9.30am the official launch ceremony will begin. Lord Mayor of York Cllr Sonja Crisp is then set to wield some shiny scissors to cut the ribbon and declare Primark Monks Cross open.
Once the doors are unlocked, shoppers will be able to explore 57,000 sq ft of store, over two floors.
It will offer fashion and accessories for all ages. There are homeware and health and beauty departments too.
The store will also sell the Primarket line – a mix of stationery, gifts, tech, travel and entertainment goodies.
Long awaited
Primark is possibly the most eagerly anticipated store opening since the Monks Cross Shopping Centre was built, and it will continue the party mood in the coming weeks.
The Monks Cross website is due to give away gift vouchers via its website, while other retailers are planning launch day offers.
Monks Cross manager Katherine Sharp called Primark “a fantastic addition to our already great line up of fashion stores and the launch weekend’s celebrations are sure to create a lively buzz in the shopping park”.
A Primark spokesperson said:
This new Primark store will offer customers amazing fashion at amazing prices for all the family. We look forward to welcoming customers from York and its surrounding areas.
