Police say they averted a ‘dangerous situation from escalating’ after a York resident shopped a drunk driver.
It happened in the city yesterday (Friday).
North Yorkshire Police praised the person who contacted them, and said they acted swiftly on the information.
“Thanks to their vigilance officers were able to swiftly stop the vehicle and prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating,” a force spokesperson said.
“The driver was arrested at the scene and is now in custody.”
They added: “We truly appreciate the community working with us to keep our roads safe.
“If you ever suspect someone may be driving under the influence, please don’t hesitate to report it. Together, we can make a difference.”
