A popular York pub undergoing a big makeover has share a first look at the work now underway.
The Ainsty on Boroughbridge Road is now closed for the transformation, which we first reported in April.
Owned by Greene King, the exterior is due to be repainted in blue, and the beer garden transformed.
The scale of the facelift is clear, as these pictures shared on the pub’s Facebook page show.
A week into the work, the interior of the pub has been stripped back and work has begun to clear the beer garden.
The pub marked the ‘end of an era’ with a big closing party on 1 July. It is due to reopen on Thursday, 10 August.
And they are looking for a VIP to do the ribbon cutting.
On Facebook, the pub said: “The Ainsty needs a ‘local hero’.
“The pub will officially reopens on the 10th August with a ribbon cutting ceremony!
“Do you fit the bill? Have you been one of our longest serving regulars?
“Get in touch with us to help open the pub in style. There’s even a couple of drinks in it for the effort.”
