Coptoberfest is underway – and it’s the tenth anniversary edition!

There are 29 beers behind the bar at St. Giles’ Church, plus a delicious selection of pies.

It’s a big charity fundraiser too – to date more £27,000 has been raised, with past beneficiaries including St. Leonard’s Hospice, 1st Copmanthorpe Scout Group, Copmanthorpe Brownies, Contact the Elderly, Panda Playgroup and the Primary School Wildlife club.
They are hoping to break the £30,000 at the end of this year’s festival.
It was officially opened by the Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell, and Town Crier Ben Fry was on hand to launch the event too.
All the beers come from a 25-mile radius of Copmanthorpe – such as Ainsty Ales, Brew York, Northern Monk and Rudgate breweries.
And Fairfax Distillery of Colton will be providing a selection of gins and cocktails including a one-off ‘Coptoberfest Gin’ which promises a great combination of ‘locally foraged berries and homegrown elderflower’.
It runs till 11pm and tickets are available on the door.
