A York pub has teamed up with a local curry house – to offer something a bit different.
The Heworth Inn, on Heworth Green, York, has partnered up with Indian restaurant Mirchi to serve up some delicious cuisine to the area.
The pub was taken over three weeks ago by Phil Gamble, who is the new general manager. Phil was previously the manager of The Gillygate in York.
Along with Phil, it’s a small onsite team consisting of three bar staff members.
Phil was brought in to help run the pub and “make the Heworth Inn partnership with Mirchi a success,” he told YorkMix.
“We decided to team up together as we wanted to be different from other places and offer something a bit more unique,” explained Paul.
Mirchi, owned by Sonni Miha, offers the ‘finest Indian cuisine’ and had a previous restaurant location in Barmston, Driffield. After the restaurant closed, the opportunity to partner with the Heworth Inn and continue sharing their much-loved food with the community of York was a golden one.
Visitors can expect all the curry house classics like Madras, Jalfrezi, Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala, as well as house specialities such as Boolani, Nawabi Khana, Garlic Chicken, and Shashlik Karahi.
They also offer a special ‘Sunday Banquet’ option, where people can enjoy four courses for just £14.95 per person (£7.95 for kids).
Mirchi is open seven days a week from 5:30pm until 10pm. Visitors can choose to eat in the restaurant at Heworth Inn, or can call up for a takeaway on 07774 011733 or 07878 012143, or they are also on Just Eat.
Mirchi’s owner Sonni said that he is “really happy with how things are going” with Phil echoing his statement.
“Things have been really busy and we have had lots of positive feedback,” said Phil.
“I am so pleased to see lots of people in the pub and also coming back to the Heworth Inn.”
The pub has also recently added a Jamaican lager Red Stripe to their draught options, along with Cobra beer. There is live music every Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
