Singing star Ronan Keating was today revealed as the first headline act for Music Showcase Weekend at York Racecourse.
Ronan will star on Saturday 26 July, as he plays following an afternoon of racing.
The amazing booking was announced exclusively on YorkMix Radio this morning by James Brennan, head of marketing and sponsorship at York Racecourse.
The Knavesmire gig will form part of a busy schedule for a man who found the nation’s hearts through performing in Boyzone who together delivered 16 top five singles, six of which hit the number one spot.
Hits like Love Me For A Reason, When You Say Nothing At All and Life Is A Rollercoaster, as well as If Tomorrow Never Comes, will ensure a fun afternoon.
James Brennan said: “Ronan has felt like part of the family for the best part of 30 years, whether it is entertaining with his friends in the band or as a solo artist, charity campaigner or breakfast show host, I’m looking forward to an event that music and racing fans will treasure as a memory.”
Racing and music fans can take advantage of a price freeze until the New Year on general admission, meaning entrance to the main Grandstand and Paddock enclosure starts at £38 per person for a group of six.
The combined racing and music extravaganza are now on sale.
As well as free car parking, there are no booking fees. To book visit the racecourse website.
On the racecourse itself, the racing action will see seven thoroughbred contests, including the Group Two Sky Bet York Stakes, a prestigious race worth £135,000 in prize money.
The music act for the only Friday evening of York’s year, 25 July, is yet to be confirmed, so keep checking the course’s website www.yorkracecourse.co.uk for further announcements.
It promises to be a fun filled summer for racing and music fans as there are four other racedays scheduled for this popular time of year.
Olly Murs has already been confirmed for a brand new raceday on Saturday 28 June; then the traditional highlight of the 66th John Smith’s Cup Meeting (Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July).
