Police have launched an investigation into sales at a York shop after a tip-off from the public.
Officers brought a tracker dog to an unnamed shop in the Clifton area yesterday (Monday) “following information we had received about tobacco and vapes being sold illegally,” North Yorkshire Police said on social media.
“Following a search along with a specialist search dog, a number of tobacco products and vapes were seized along with cash.”
The shop visit was undertaken alongside City of York Council trading standards.
“An investigation into the matter will follow alongside trading standards and licensing,” the police said.
“The activity follows on from work we have been conducting in Clifton to deter, disrupt and detect criminal activity in and around Clifton.”
