Police have acted swiftly after a robbery at a York supermarket saw staff threatened with a saw.
It happened at the Tesco store at Askham Bar.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 10.27pm on Monday (8 August), police received a call from the store reporting a man who was threatening staff in the pharmacy with a saw and demanding drugs.
“Officers attended and the suspect was arrested in a playing field a short time later.”
The 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was taken into police custody, where he remains.
