Officers searching for missing York man, Nick Gunnell, have recovered a body from the River Ouse.
Police were alerted by kayakers on the river between Scarborough Bridge and Clifton Bridge this afternoon (Sunday).
Although the man has not been formally identified, Mr Gunnell’s family have been informed.
A post mortem and formal identification will now be carried out and a report prepared for the coroner.
Mr Gunnell, 55, was last seen around 11.20am on Tuesday (30 June) at his home address on Holgate Road in York.
Police began a missing man inquiry saying they were extremely concerned for his welfare.
The force’s underwater search unit has been involved for several days, with divers searching the River Ouse in the city centre.
York Rescue Boat was also involved in the operation.
