Police have launched an inquiry after the sudden death of a man at York Hospital.
Few details have been released about the incident, but North Yorkshire Police has released a short statement.
It says: “North Yorkshire Police were contacted by York Hospital at just after 6am on Sunday (12 March) in relation to the sudden death of a 91-year-old man.
“The man’s family have been made aware and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
“Enquiries are taking place to establish the circumstances that led to his death which at this stage is currently being treated as unexplained.”
A spokesperson for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “We invited the police to York Hospital following the death of a patient on Sunday.
“We can’t comment further whilst the police are completing their enquiries, and we are working with them to support this.”
