Police have launched an investigation after a suspected hate crime which happened next to York Minster.
People were verbally abused at Minster Yard on Tuesday (1 September) at around 5pm.
The incident saw a man shouting of racially-motivated abuse at people who were in this area at the time.
The man was in his 50s, officers said.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and victims to come forward.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are asking anyone who may have witnessed or been subjected to this abuse, to come forward and contact police without delay.”
