Police have placed cordons on Shambles in York today (Tuesday).
And officers are also investigating an incident nearby King’s Square.
The Shambles cordon is around the Monk Bar Chocolatiers shop and the Shambles Tavern pub and off licence.
A Shambles Tavern window has been broken, as has a pane of glass in the door of the chocolate shop.
Meanwhile police are also in King’s Square this morning.





Glass in the door of Caffe Nero has been smashed. A note on the door says ‘We are closed at the moment, sorry’.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for information following commercial burglaries of the Shambles Tavern and Caffé Nero, and an attempted burglary at Monk Bar Chocolatiers in the early hours of Tuesday 15 April.
“At around 00:57am the front window of the Shambles Tavern at 44 Shambles, York was broken and items, including a till, were taken.
“Monk Bar Chocolatiers, at 7 The Shambles, York was also targeted, with a window being smashed in an attempt to enter the premises.
“Caffe Nero at Kings Square, which is nearby, was also broken into.
“North Yorkshire Police believe that these incidents may be linked.”
If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, or has CCTV footage, is asked to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
