Can you help trace the witnesses?

Updated: Police have located the witnesses in the Harrogate area following the media appeal.

Police are investigating another sex assault in York – the fourth in one week.

Details are sketchy about the latest incident, which happened during the early hours of Saturday (September 30).

The victim, an 18-year-old woman, reported being assaulted after leaving a city nightclub. She had been on a night out with friends but became separated from them after leaving the club.

Now detectives are appealing for a mother and son to come forward who helped her get home after the assault.

Good Samaritans

The woman sought assistance from an unknown man at a location she described as a garage in the York or Harrogate area. It is unclear at this time if it was a sales garage or a mechanical garage, but it was not a petrol station.

He gave the woman a black jacket to wear which had the logo FRANKE on it. He then telephoned his mother and asked her to come the garage and she drove the woman to her home address in the Boroughbridge area.

As part of ongoing enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, detectives need to trace the mother and son.

If this is you or you can help identify the man and his mother, please contact North Yorkshire Police.

This is the latest of a spate of reported sexual assaults in York.

Detectives have issued CCTV of a man they want to talk to in connection with a serious sexual assault on Bootham on Sunday, September 24.

And they’ve arrested one man in an ongoing investigation into two other sexual assaults, one on James Street the same Sunday, and a second on Navigation Road last Tuesday.

In separate case, police are searching for a man who made sexual comments towards an 18-year-old woman on two successive evenings.
