Two teenagers tried to disrupt the St George’s Parade in York yesterday (Sunday).
Around 1,500 youngsters and volunteers took part in the parade. Explorers, scouts, cubs, beavers, squirrels, rangers, guides, brownies and rainbows from York and the surrounding area marched from Clifford’s Tower to the Minster in the annual celebration.
But two boys on bikes thought it would be a good idea to try and get in their way.
Police stepped in and seized their bikes.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Sadly, two teenage males on their bikes thought it would be funny to try to disrupt the cubs parades today and ruin things for everyone else.
“They are now walking home with dispersal notices in their pockets. They can collect their cycles from the police station another day.”
One person commented on Facebook: “Well done we saw this unfold, and the way they were riding it wouldn’t have been long for someone to be seriously hurt.”
