Ouse Bridge and surrounding streets in York have reopened after a police incident this morning (Wednesday).
Police, fire and ambulance crews had been on and around Ouse Bridge since 3am. The bridge was taped off with a police guard at both ends.
Clifford Street and Tower Street were also closed.
Firefighters are also positioned on King’s Staith, and a fully-crewed fire boat is in the water.
It was due to a vulnerable person on the bridge wall.
The incident was brought to a safe conclusion at about 11am, and all the bridge and surrounding streets reopened.
North Yorkshire Police issued this update: “At around 3am this morning (Wednesday, 14 June) officers were called to Ouse Bridge in York.
“This was following several reports of a concern for safety of a woman in the area.
“Our colleagues from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service along with Yorkshire Ambulance were also in attendance.
“Road closures were put in place as we all worked together to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
“The woman is now receiving the help and support she needs.
“Ouse Bridge has now reopened. Thank you for your understanding.”
