Police incident on York bridge

A police incident took place on a York bridge at the height of rush hour this evening (Tuesday).

Several police vehicles were called to Lendal Bridge at around 5pm.

An ambulance also attended.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called with a report of a woman in distress on Lendal Bridge at 4.45pm today.

“Officers attended and she was taken to a medical facility for treatment.”

One carriageway of the bridge was blocked by the police operation for a time, but traffic is now flowing freely again.
