Crime scene investigators are at a garden in York city centre after a man was found collapsed earlier today (Wednesday).
The man was found on High Ousegate at about 7.50am. Unconfirmed reports suggest he was suffering from a head injury.
The path that leads from Coppergate to High Ousegate, next to All Saints Church, is taped off. So is the garden opposite the church.
At 8am this morning (Wednesday) High Ousegate in the city was also sealed off by police.
But the street reopened by 8.30am.
Police are guarding both ends of the path and the garden.
At lunchtime, a crime scene investigation officer was taking photographs of the benches in the garden.
An ambulance was seen leaving the area earlier with its lights and sirens going.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were contacted at 7.50am today (Wednesday) by Yorkshire Ambulance Service with a report of a man who had collapsed on High Ousegate in York city centre.
“Officers have attended and a scene is in place to establish the circumstances around the incident.
