Emergency services responded in numbers to an incident in York city centre this morning.
Police, fire crews and ambulances were called to the Foss Islands area at about 8am.
The activity was centred around the River Foss at the junction of Layerthorpe, Foss Islands Road and Peasholme Green.
The fire service boat was deployed and the York Rescue Boat team were also involved.
The incident appeared to involve a man on the wrong side of the barrier over the Foss.

By about 9am the incident was being scaled down and the fire service removed their boat from the water.
It appears that emergency services have brought it to a safe ending.
Traffic travelling out of town on Peasholme Green was prevented from going straight on. Road users were diverted down Jewberry.
All restrictions have now been lifted.
