A man died after collapsing on a York shopping street on Sunday.
Several police vehicles and ambulances were called to Front Street, Acomb at 10.47am.
The alley that runs between Specsavers and the Laughing Llama coffee shop, linking York Road to Front Street, was sealed off.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Trust said: “An elderly male had collapsed outside Specsavers on Front Street in Acomb.
“We despatched two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.”
They said paramedics gave emergency medical treatment to the man at the scene and while taking him to York Hospital but sadly he died.
