Part of the A64 was closed this morning (Thursday, 5 January) due to a police incident.
The road was closed in both directions between the A659 and the A162 near Tadcaster but has now reopened.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said at 11.15am: “We are currently at the scene of an incident on the A64 near to Tadcaster.

“Please avoid the area if you can and find alternative routes.”
National Highways then said: “North Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance are in attendance.
“Due to the nature of the incident, the road is expected to be closed for some time.
“National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic management.”
However, at 12pm they added: “This incident is now clear, and the A64 in North Yorkshire is now OPEN in both directions.
“There are no significant delays in the area. Thanks for your patience this morning.”
