Police are at an incident in Coney Street, York.
At around 4.40pm today, a number of people phoned 999 to report a disturbance at the Mappin & Webb jewellery store on the street.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “One man has been taken to hospital by the ambulance service and another man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
“A cordon has been put in place while officers investigate the circumstances of the incident.
“We will provide more information when we are able.”
One eyewitness told YorkMix that officers tackled a man at the scene. They said a taser had been deployed, but we have since been told by a North Yorkshire Police that this is factually incorrect.
The cordon is stretched across Coney Street from Nat West bank across to Boots on one side, and from the Cancer Research UK shop to the other side of Boots on the other.
There is also a cordon stretching from TK Maxx to Ladbrokes on New Street.
No one is being let through the cordon. Police officers have warned the public that it may be in place for several hours.
Crime Scene Investigation officers are at the jewellers. Five police vehicles are parked up along Coney Street and New Street.
