Police in York have criticised drivers who ignored road closed signs and put an accident investigation team at risk in York on Wednesday night.
Officers were called to a single vehicle accident on the A1237 at Clifton Moor.
Initially they thought that a motorcyclist involved had sustained critical injuries. They were pleased to see that he was able to get up.
However the rider tested positive at the roadside. He will now be interviewed when the blood test comes back
North Yorkshire Police Traffic Officer David Minto added that whilst they were examining the scene, four vehicles drove past the ‘road closed’ signs.
He said: “Not only did we have the road preserved for investigation, these actions put myself and colleagues at risk.”
All the drivers have been reported and further action will follow.
