Police helicopter and rescue boat called out in York search
The police helicopter was called out to help in a search in York early this morning.
Fire crews and the York Rescue Boat was also called out to the incident by North Yorkshire Police at 5.03am.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The search in and alongside the river at Ouse Bridge in York city centre, which started just before 5am, was for a man who was believed to be in a distressed state.
“The search involved police officers, a police helicopter, the fire and rescue boat and the York Rescue Boat.
“The operation was called off before 6.30am when, following enquiries to confirm his identity, officers were able to locate him at his home address. He is receiving support and care.”
