Police searching for missing Helmsley woman Chelsea Allen have found a body.
Officers discovered the body this morning (Monday) in woodland near the town.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Although formal identification has not been confirmed at this stage, officers believe the body to be that of Chelsea Allen.
“The circumstances are currently not believed to be suspicious.
“The family of Chelsea Allen have been informed of this news and are currently being supported.”
Chelsea was first reported missing last Sunday (26 June). She was thought to have left her home on foot, and had no money or phone with her.
In the following days there was an extensive search, which involved the police and a mountain rescue team.
Police thanked members of the public for their assistance with sharing the appeals to find Chelsea.
A file is now being prepared for the coroner.
