The A64 was closed for a brief period after a horse box broke down.

The road was closed in both directions for about ten minutes at about 2pm yesterday (Sunday) on the eastbound carriageway by the junction with the A19 at Fulford.

It was to enable police officers to arrange for the horses to be transferred to another vehicle.

Traffic came to a halt both sides of the A19 Fulford interchange

Officers said they wanted to make sure the animals were not frightened by the traffic and didn’t bolt across the dual carriageway.

They thanked motorists for their patience.
