Two men have been arrested after police deployed both air and dog power in a chase near Selby.
It began at around 9pm yesterday (Sunday).
Police attempted to stop a suspected cloned 4×4 vehicle, thought to be linked to a recent house burglary in the area.
The driver failed to stop and was pursued by officers on the ground and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The vehicle came to a stop in a country lane near Brayton and there was a short foot pursuit across a field.
“Both men were arrested during the incident.
“A police dog deployed during the pursuit helped pursue and detain one of the suspects.”
The arrested men are both in their 30s and from the Kirklees area.
They are in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Dog Bobby strikes again 🐾Police Dog Bobby strikes again 🐾 Here’s the moment PD Bobby and his handler helped arrest two men after a pursuit last night. We tried to stop a suspected cloned vehicle in connection with a recent house burglary. But the driver failed to pull over. So we followed him with several cars and also called in a police helicopter. The vehicle came to a stop in a country lane near Brayton, Selby. The two occupants ran across a crop field so we gave chase on foot. In fact, it was on paws as well – as you can see, PD Bobby certainly wasn’t hanging around. He chased then held one of the suspects before we arrested him. Both of the men we arrested are in their 30s and from the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire and they were taken into our cells. It just goes to show, there’s no getting away when Bobby’s on the beat 🐕
