Emergency services were called to a York bridge over fears someone had fallen into the river.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service sent two fire crews along with the boat from York station to Millennium Bridge after “reports of two people one on the bridge and one possibly in the water”.
Police and the York Rescue Boat were also scrambled to the bridge shortly before 8pm on Thursday (February 15).
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We received a report from a member of the public who was concerned about the safety of two men on Millennium Bridge, York.
“Both men were believed to be under the influence of alcohol and one of the men appeared to be on the wrong side of the railings of the bridge.
“Officers attended along with a crew from York Rescue Boat. By 8.10pm both men had walked away and left the area.”
For the volunteers of York Rescue Boat, it was their fifth callout of 2018.
“Thanks to our amazing volunteer team members who responded and dropped everything to assist,” the charity posted on Facebook.
