Police and fire crews worked together to rescue a man from the river in York early this morning (Saturday).
The alert was issued at about 2.30am that a man was in the River Foss near Clifford’s Tower. Police officers and firefighters from York, Acomb, Huntington and Selby fire stations responded.
Police threw a life ring out to the man. Fire crews then used a ladder and lines to bring him on to dry land.
The man was left in the hands of the police.
Station manager Tony Walker wrote on Twitter: “Excellent job by all. Please stay away from the water especially during flood conditions.”
