Police are ‘actively targeting’ youths responsible for blighting a York suburb, officers said today (Saturday).
It follows a wave of troublemaking, including arson attacks, in Tang Hall.
Police and firefighters have been called to repeated fires started deliberately, particularly in Hull Road Park, and also at St Nick’s Nature Reserve.
There have also been other incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB).
In a message today, police posted: “We have recently received a high number of reports of incidents of ASB and arson which are having a huge impact on the local community, their safety and the areas that they frequent locally.
“As your local Neighbourhood Policing Team, we would like to reassure the community that we are actively targeting any youths involved, and involving appropriate agencies, as well as robustly dealing with any criminal offences that are committed.
“Patrols are being conducted in the area, as well as dispersals issued to individuals where ASB is happening / is likely to occur.
“The mobile police office will be present around Alcuin Avenue over the next week. Local officers will be available to discuss any further questions / concerns you may have.”
They asked locals to “please continue to report any incidents as appropriate on 101 or 999 as appropriate”.
