Police took action to tackle drunken trouble in York earlier today (Friday).
It followed a gang causing problems on The Stonebow this afternoon.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Following multiple reports of alcohol-related nuisance and anti-social behaviour by a group of people on The Stonebow in York between 2pm and 3pm, we arrested two local men aged 42 and 36 on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
“They were taken into custody for questioning.”
The trouble took place before the big football match between York City and Chesterfield, and the Stonebow is where many fans catch a bus to the stadium.
But the police have not said whether the incident involved either set of supporters.
