It’s feeling festive in York – as the annual St Nicholas Fair opened and the festive lights were switched on today (Thursday).
With over 75 alpine chalets showcasing the best of local artisan gifts and festive fare, a new bar, tasty food and drink, and more – there’s so much to discover at the York Christmas Market for 2023.
The market will run every day on Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, from 10am to 7pm, until Friday 22 December.
This year the layout has been changed. There’s no bar on Parliament Street, so traders stretch along the length of the road. The chalets are back to back and positioned to give more room two walk around.
Meanwhile, Thor’s Tipi has moved to Museum Gardens for the very first time – with roaring log fires, live music, winter warmers, festive cocktails, food from YUZU Street Food and lots of cheer.
And visitors can enjoy the York Christmas Market’s newest attraction on Parliament Street, Wonder. Enjoy warm festive drinks served in specially designed York Christmas cups, while standing under 3m high candy canes.
Other new foodie stalls at the market this year include Crumbles, a stall selling hot fruit crumbles and custard, and The Cut & Craft, serving their signature flat iron steak and other dishes.
There are lots of unique gift stalls to peruse too, such as handcrafted jewellery from The Library of Flowers, sweet-smelling cosmetics from Lush, magical gifts from The Potions Cauldron, beers from Malton Brewery, paper lanterns from Paper Starlights, and much more.
All the traders are from Yorkshire.
