A would-be thief has tried to break into sheds that are home to racing pigeons in Pickering.
Police say the pigeons were disturbed as the attempted break-in took place.
The incident happened between 5pm on Sunday 3 November and 7am the next day at sheds close to the A169 near Whitby Road.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Multiple sheds were damaged and it is believed rocks were used to smash the shed locks.
“During the incident pigeons were disturbed and one escaped.
“The missing bird will have a red ring around its right foot with an ID tag.”
