Every Friday in October is ‘pieday’ at No.88 Walmgate at Hotel Indigo York – Diners can enjoy a free glass of wine or craft ale (or soft drink) with every pie ordered.
No. 88 Walmgate is the latest restaurant to open in York’s most foodie of destinations. Inspiring diners to delight in all Yorkshire flavours, chef knows that sometimes you just can’t beat a hearty pie, whether it’s a traditional steak and ale or something a little more adventurous.
A Plate Pie of the season with its light puff pastry topping, features chicken, beef, boar or mutton according to what’s in the market or chef’s mood that day.
No. 88 Walmgate also serves delicious West Riding steaks, The Yorkshire Wagyu Steak Burgers, Harrogate blue cheese and – of course – Yorkshire pudding.
Fish lovers can choose between Roasted Sea Bass with, chive mash or Grilled Salmon with spinach and tomato butter sauce.
Puddings include the daring 88 Freakshake – a riotously decadent concoction of local Yorvale ice cream and toppings – but you may not finish it so ask for two spoons!
A mix of local craft ales and beers appears alongside a well-chosen wine list to complement the menu.
The restaurant also offers a special menu for young diners and a separate area ideal for private parties of 10 for Christmas!
