York’s new road has been completed on time and is open this morning (Monday).
Traffic is flowing both ways along the temporary road, created next to Queen Street Bridge.
The road runs from Queen Street through the York Station car park before emerging near to the station portico.
Halfway along, a new entrance has been created into the station car park.
Pedestrians can walk around by York Railway Institute, onto the station platform and then out of the station entrance.
There is no exit for cars or pedestrians at the old car park entrance.

The route was shut all weekend as the first works began on the Station Gateway scheme to transform the entrance to York Station.
The new road will be shut again all next weekend as work to demolish the bridge goes ahead.
