The new cocktail bar and steakhouse in York city centre is set to open this Wednesday (26 August).
Tomahawk, located next to the Mansion House in the premises previously occupied by Jamie’s Italian, will also feature a Perrier Jouet Champagne and Oyster Bar.
Originally slated to open in April, work resumed at the St Helen’s Square premises in earnest after lockdown.
Howard Eggleston, MD of the group which owns Tomahawk, said there was a lot of interest in the opening.
“We have been overwhelmed by the interest and sheer volume of bookings already made at Tomahawk by the lovely people of York,” he said.
“The Facebook posts alone have attracted over a third of a million insights and the first post had 3.3k likes and just short of 5k shares on our page, which is without doubt the most we have ever had for an opening.”
Final fittings
All of the new signage was installed on Sunday.
The champagne and oyster bar was being fitted today (Monday) and the ground floor cocktail bar will be fitted tomorrow, ready for the Wednesday opening.
Open throughout the day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Tomahawk Steakhouses are currently open in several venues in Yorkshire and the North East.
On the main menu, steaks include a 12oz sirloin for £26.50, and the luxurious chateaubriand at £64.95 – for two, or ‘one very hungry person’.
Away from the meat there’s grilled tandoori seabass (£15.95) or half a lobster (£38.50). The vegetarian and vegan menu includes vegetable katsu curry (£10.95).
The cocktails are priced at £7.95.
