York has had it’s first winter smattering of the white stuff.
A light covering of snow has fallen on the city overnight.
But the roads and most pavements in York are clear and unaffected.
City of York Council gritters have been out all night.
However it is still below freezing this morning and pedestrians, cyclists and drivers should be wary as there are some icy patches.
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice covering York and North Yorkshire lasts until 11am today (Thursday).
The Met Office says: “Showers, falling as snow inland, will lead to icy patches and hazardous conditions.”
A similar weather warning covering North Yorkshire to the east of York, including Helmsley, Malton, Pickering and the coast, runs from 5pm tonight to 11am tomorrow.
Here’s how it’s looking so far.
