Another rail strike has left York Station almost deserted this morning (Wednesday).
Passengers are suffering fresh travel chaos as thousands of workers walked out in a row over jobs, pay, pensions and conditions.
Only around one in five trains were due to run on around half the network, with some areas having no trains all day.
Selby and Malton stations are both closed again today.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at Network Rail and 14 train operators went on strike.
Passengers are being urged to only travel by train if they must, and if it is necessary, allow extra time and check when their last train will depart.
Trains are expected to be disrupted on Thursday morning with a later start to services as employees return to duties.
But another strike by members of the ASLEF union will follow on Saturday. Here’s what is happening on our train services this morning (Wednesday, 27 July):

TransPennine Express
“We will be operating a very limited service on the following routes on Wednesday 27 July.”

Northern
“Strike action by RMT members will significantly affect services on 27 July 2022 with most lines closed with no train services or alternatives. We advise customers not to travel.
“There are a small number of routes running with a very limited service, you should only travel if necessary on these routes. If you do travel, expect severe disruption and plan ahead/check your entire journey.”

- Wed 27th July: Services will operate between Doncaster & London King’s Cross only, between 07:30 & 18:30 – download the timetable
- Thu 28th July: The 06:05 from Beverley (06:25 from Hull) will start at Doncaster
- Sat 30th July: One service will run to & from London King’s Cross – download the timetable
- Sun 31st July: The 10:49 & 17:48 from London King’s Cross will not run, the 14:36 from Hull will not run.
