It’s a familiar sight for travellers and dates back to the 1870s when York’s new station, replacing the Queen street terminus within the city walls, was opened.

LNER (London and North Eastern Railway) has taken the opportunity during these times when the trains are not so busy to give it a repaint to make sure it lasts well into the 2070s and beyond.

Painter, Jack Tighes, has been up his ladder doing the work and the results look impressive.
