The first sports team from York to win a top-flight league title paraded their trophies tonight in some style.
The all-conquering York RLFC Valkyrie team took the silverware for an open-topped City Cruises York boat tour down the River Ouse in the centre of York.
Cheered on by fans on both riverbanks, the winners showed off their Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final trophy alongside their League Leaders’ Shield.
On board with the team was City of York Council leader Claire Douglas. Friends and family also gathered on the top deck.
The players sipped beers and bubbly and shared smiles and waves with the thrilled supporters.
The City Cruises boat took them from Lendal landing under the Scarborough Railway Bridge before turning for a sail past the fans gathered in front of York City Rowing Club.
They then went along the river and up to King’s Staith.
Congratulations again to York’s sporting superstars!
